A Chesapeake Bay native, Patrick McCabe grew up on the Patapsco River, where he developed a fascination at a young age with the bay and its tributaries. This inspired him to pursue a degree in marine science at Coastal Carolina University. He recently graduated from Duke University from the Master of Environmental Management program, where his work focused on GIS and coastal environmental management.
Prior to joining Chesapeake Conservancy, he worked with a number of conservation and restoration organizations within the watershed including the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
McCabe’s work for the Conservation Innovation Center includes GIS support for developing land use and land cover datasets for the Chesapeake Bay Program and conservation prioritization work for local land trusts. In his free time, McCabe enjoys fishing, kayaking and hiking throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
